CAPE CORAL — Gather, one of the newest waterfront restaurants in Lee County, opened Oct. 17. The new restaurant, from the team behind Fathoms Restaurant & Bar and The French Press, is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, according to a statement. The menu features healthy, organic-option breakfasts, plus European-style pastries. Lunch and dinner will introduce a new concept in Cape Coral with an international gastro-bar menu and craft cocktails, the release adds.

Area hospitality entrepreneur Tim Hoffman, one of the partners behind the project, envisions Gather as a waterfront draw for laid-back mingling. Hoffman says it will be the kind of place he noticed Cape Coral was missing when he and his wife, Meredith, and business partners Benjamin Voisin and Valeria Zanella Voisin started in the restaurant business on the Cape two years ago. Gather seats about 65 people.

“This is going to be a great new concept for Southwest Florida and we couldn’t be happier with the talent that has come together to create an amazing dining experience,” says Hoffman, with HGH LLC, in the release.

Hoffman and his partners first opened Fathoms Restaurant & Bar at Cape Harbour Marina. A short time later they acquired The French Press coffee and European-style pastry shop there. Fathoms, in space formerly occupied by The Joint, seats 130 with tables both inside and out. The menu offers seafood, steaks and international cuisine. It has live entertainment several nights a week.

Gather will have plenty of company at Cape Harbour, a waterfront development home to more than 200 boat slips, the Cape Coral Westin Resort, three 14-story luxury condominiums, a lengthy lineup of restaurants and shops and a planned 35,000-square-foot convention and conference center.
