Norman Love Confections is sweetening up McGregor Blvd. in south Fort Myers, with gelato, truffles, pastries and more.

Choco-holics, pastry addicts, lovers of gelato and caramel and puffy macaroons — it’s here.

Sweet tooths all around McGregor Boulevard have cause for celebration. Norman Love Confections opened its newest location over the weekend, serving espressos, sundaes, crepes and more in The Design Center at 13261 McGregor Blvd., south Fort Myers.

“It’s about being more accessible to the entire McGregor corridor, which is home to so many of our customers,” Love said this morning, perched in a leather chair in a sunny corner of his sleek, new, 1,700-square-foot salon.

“It’s about being accessible to Sanibel, to Cape Coral, to downtown and the beaches. It’s hard to get out east to us at times, I know that.”

This newest location, in the same plaza as First Watch and Melting Pot, is the fourth stand-alone salon in Southwest Florida for the award-winning, internationally renowned chocolatier.

And it’s much more than just a chocolate shop.

The salon offers made-to-order crepes, espressos, and an array of hand-crafted pastries — from fruit tarts to twice-baked croissants filled with almond cream and soaked in almond syrup.

In the coming weeks Love will be teaming with local breweries, such as the forthcoming Millennial Brewing Co. in downtown Fort Myers, to craft signature beers that he’ll pair with his desserts. Serious sweets lovers will soon be able to come in for multi-course dessert tastings, each treat teamed with the perfect wine, beer or flute of bubbly.

Brunch is also in the works, “but from a pastry chef’s perspective,” Love smiled.

The meal might start with a chocolate-infused crepe, followed by a savory Belgian waffle, yogurt with house-made granola, and a plate of miniature truffles to finish. Mimosas will be served, infused with tastes of the tropics.

“Imagine a mimosa flight with all fresh juices, pineapple, tangerine, passion fruit,” said Love.

The sleek space is accented in chocolate brown and Love’s signature green. Orders are placed at the counter, with a handful of tables for seating.

Even by Love’s exacting standards, the space is gleaming, “the best one yet,” he said.

“Our area needs a place you can come after dinner, or after the show, just to have a glass of wine and a little something sweet,” Love said. “A place like this has always been a dream of mine, and here it is.”

Norman Love Confections also has locations in Gateway, Estero and Naples. Find the south Fort Myers store at 13261 McGregor Blvd., suite 105; call 672-8797 or visit for more.
